Bon Bar, Newcastle

I recently attended an event at BonBar in Newcastle. Food was provided at the event so, on arrival, I asked the barman to check whether the food would be nut free. The barman called over a man that appeared to be his manager and asked him. The manager looked hassled and simply said it's bread and meat and kind of shrugged his shoulders. He also said that there are nuts used in the kitchen so he couldn't guarantee. I acknowledged this but asked again whether there were any nuts in the actual recipe of the food. He again shrugged and repeated the same.

When the food arrived, I saw that it was thin pizza style bread with cheese, steak, chicken, prawns and chips and salad. I therefore decided to take a risk and try the food.

Ultimately, the food was tasty and I didn't have any problems with nuts but the attitude of the manager was really unhelpful and unprofessional. He didn't even take the time to ask the chef whether there was likely to be nuts in the food and made me feel like a burden for even asking. I therefore rate this experience at BonBar 1 out of 5.
