Eating out abroad- Es Replec, Cala'n Forcat, Menorca

We recently stayed in Menorca for a 10 day break away in the sun. We were booked in an all-inclusive hotel (The Binimar) but we decided to venture out for our evening meals on a couple of occasions for a change.

My mother-in-law and I scoped out the options whilst my husband went to watch the football with his dad. We were specifically looking to see whether the restaurants would be able to cater for my nut allergy. We walked past a couple of restaurants and read the menus which seemed relatively low risk from a nut allergy perspective. Es Replec was the final restaurant we came across. It looked nice inside and had a barbecue style oven to cook a selection of meat. We decided to have a drink at the restaurant to decide whether it would be a good choice to eat there. We therefore ordered our drinks and asked the waiter if the restaurant would be able to cater for a nut allergy. My husband wasn't with me at the tie so I didn't have the spanish translation so did the best I could. The waiter appeared to understand and went to get an allergy menu. He returned with a full restaurant menu that had all allergens identified by symbols next to each menu item. I was really impressed by this and very comforted that the restaurant were clearly very allergy aware. We therefore decided that this was the restaurant for us and returned in the evening for our meal.

When we returned, the waiter recognised us and got us the allergy menu straight away. I ordered nachos with bolognese and cheese for starter and salmon with vegetables and potatoes for main. I also shared some bread and aioli with my husband. The food was very good quality and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable too. What we really appreciated though was the allergy awareness. I therefore rate our experience as 5 out of 5.

We returned to the restaurant a couple of days later and had a lovely experience again. This restaurant was a little gem and somewhere we will definitely be returning to in the future.
