Nut free Vegas

Despite the universal popularity of peanut butter, I have always found America to be a good place for nut allergy sufferers to go. My experience in Vegas has been no different.

We are staying at the Linq which is just off the main strip and has its own promenade with a number of eating choices. So far on the promenade we have tried Canter for breakfast, the Yardhouse for food and drinks (twice), In and Out Burger and Gordon Ramsay’s fish and chips! Each place has been great with my nut allergy and I have felt totally comfortable eating here. There are however a couple of rules I’ve stood by to try to stay safe:

Always check with the server before ordering whether the food is going to be ok;

If in doubt don’t eat there;

Try to avoid buffets- there is more of a risk of cross contamination (however I will be trying the Wynn Buffet as I’ve been told it’s totally nut free- watch this space);

Be careful with spirits too. Bombay Sapphire gin is pretty popular here and contains almonds.

I will be posting on my blog more detailed posts about some of the restaurants we have tried. I am going to Hells Kitchen today so will let you know how that goes!
